Stop:Engine Oil Pressure
We are getting this message frequently and it does not make sense. 2003 x5 3.0i, 73k miles.
History: Had the oil filter housing seal leak. Also experienced a series of warnings for oil level, oil pressure and temperature for the month that this leak started and got worse. Replaced oil filter housing seperator two days ago. Everything buttoned up nicely. Started and ran seemingly just fine. Behavior: Then this pattern emerged Check coolant and oil levels- all good, full. First trip of the day- to high school and back (6 miles) -no warnings, no issues 2nd trip- to elementary school and back (2 miles) -no warnings, no issues 2nd trip- usually a few errands then pick up at elementary school(probably 6 miles)- warning - Stop:Engine Oil Pressure Warning only comes on when stopping or turning at slow speed. Warning goes away as soon as the car is accelerated. Stop the car, turn off the engine, start the engine and no warning. No overheat problems. Had codes 19 and 8 and cleared these using Peak tester. Is it an oil pressure sensor failing? How many pressure sensors are there? Where are the sensors? Has anyone had this problem and has anyone solved it. Last edited by TPM; 08-12-2011 at 12:37 PM. Reason: forgot to mention car model |
