Gearbox issues?

Guys, I need some help if poss. I've got a E53 3.0d sport with what appears to be a gearbox fault. When I select reverse the truck trys to move off even with the brake pressed, until the engine stalls!!! Doesn't do it all of the time but more often than not. Any help would truely be appriciated.
Cheers

I suppose one possibility is that the torque converter lock-up clutch is (incorrectly) being applied while the vehicle is stationary – maybe because the TCC solenoid valve is sticking? The problem only occurs in Reverse and not in Drive?

God when are the problems going to stop? Not only have I still got the above fault it appears the box is now changing up the gears to fast i.e getting into 5th by 35mph which then seems to make the clutches slip !!! `The box seems to have a mind of its own.I also have a whining sound coming from the back, not sure if its the diff, a wheel bearing or indeed the prop center bearing I've got it booked in the garage saturday morning to have the codes read as swell as having tyres fitted. Hopefuly they will be able to throw some light on the issues... Any help would be good

torque converter seems to be busted, either way you need to remove the trans, reman the tq cvtr and R&R the AT.

Mate you need to get it fixed. By the sound of it, it is not only a pain in the ass but a safety issue now. Judging by your posts you are not a mechanic, so you won't be doing the repairs yourself so book it in to an indy and get your tran fixed bud.

People on here can offer advice etc by obviously none of them are able to actually drive your car and identify the symptoms, so you're best off taking it to the experts and asking them to talk you through repairs as they identify them and then post up here to see if other people have experienced similar.

Good luck

Thanks for the feedback. The car is being booked into the main dealer next week to get a second opinion. From there I will decide the next move.
Cheers
