Tire size purchase 20"? 02 X5 3.0

I need to purchase tires all around & will use the original 17" rims for my snows.
My Tire guy wants me to go with 20" rims front & rear with 275/40R/20's for tires, he says they will fit!
My ? is will this work? (fit) Are there any problems with this combo? Do I need to reprogram for the new tire size etc.

P.S. What does Sport package mean, that was available in 02?

Your expertise is appreciated!
Thanks,
DM

as long as they are al the same diameter it ok, the problem is that if the diameter is not the same or close to stock diameter it will throw off the speedo. make sure the rims are the correct offset also. Most go with the stock staggerd rim set up 20x9.5 front and 20x10.5 rear with 285/30 front and 315/35 rear.
