Help identify component
Can someone help me identify the pulley-like object at the top left of this picture? I just noticed that it wobbles when running and also makes some noise. 2004 X5 4.4 with 110,000 miles. Thanks! |

Yep, one with the 4 bolts at the top left is the waterpump. You'd want to get that changed asap before it leaves you on the side the road overheating!

Well, tried to limp the truck to the shop to get the water pump replaced but ended up on the side of the road with a $1,060 repair bill. So far, the engine seems to be fine even though it smoked initially after the repair but that probably was the coolant getting burnt off.
