Anyone tried buying a TCU recently

06 4.8iS w/67k

Driving home and notice phone is not paired. Been working flawlessly for 6 months. Mess around for an hour, read forums and try first to reset TCU with fuse, then removing big connector etc.

No luck so far. I could disco battery but not sure why that would be better than removing connector on TCU altogether.

Anyway, BT with factory steering wheel controls, stereo interrupt is essential for me.

Looks like I will be buying a new TCU sooner or later.

1. Anyone bought one ?
2. As car already coded for TCU, if I buy one will it need coding ?

Thanks !

David

Are you talking about the ULF module? Had it replaced under warranty a while ago because it was waking up and draining my battery. Sorry can't answer the coding question. Here is one in the Classifieds.

Mine is a TCU, not a ULF.

I will have to check compatibility.

THanks

I guess mine was a TCU, it looks alot like that one. It was made by Continental. Part # is 84109195455. Real OEM shows it as "ENDED." Here it is at BMW of South Atlanta. Are you asking about availability or cost? Mine was a goodwill repair just after 4/50 warranty.

It show the Conti TCU.

Thanks and I hope that helps.

Props to the ECS peeps. New (remanufactured) TCU installed and we were instantly back up and running with Bluetooth.

The antenna connections were in slightly different locations and lead to a slight fiddle with the cable routing but no more than 5 mins thought and 5 mins routing.

Thanks again, just need to get my core charge back please
