ac evaporator cleaning method

So I been thinking about this but not sure on the X5. I have a Kia Sedona EX 2007, and the ac in the beginning always smelt awful. So I purchased from Kia an AC evaporator cleaner and refresher kit. This includes a large can that has a nozzle with pipe connecting to the ac drain tube and I had to spray that inside the drain tube. This soaks the evap core then it drains out of the tube. Leave it for 10 mins and then spray the refresher through the air intake after removing the cabin filter.

This stuff really works and it drains all the dirty crap. Now I am debating if I should do the same on the X5. What does everyone think? My X5 AC stinks
and I've changed the cabin filter, but still stinks like crap for a few minutes.

thanks, H

I think it is a fine idea. In fact, I think there is a similar product or a TSB from BMW for the a/c odor. It's basically a deodorizer like what you're using.

The problem is caused by accumulated water that is allowed to stand which can grow smell producing mold. Nice thought, no? One solution is to turn off the a/c a few minutes before you get to your destination to allow the water to be used up or evacuated so none is left standing.
