SRS problem "ignition circuit ZK5"

While working on window regulator front right door, I disconnected the airbag to pull the vapor barrier off and then reconnected it before raising/lowering the window. After putting it all back togerther, I now have the srs light on my dash. I checked this with baviarantechnic diagnotic tool, error code read "ignition circuit ZK5, front right door". I cleared the code, but the light keeps coming back on. Seems to me I need to fix something, since resetting it isn't doing the trick... but no idea what...maybe the wiring connector to the airbag? Anyone know what ZK5 means?

As always, any help appreciated.

Hi,

I am sorry I don't know what ZK5 means but I was curious on what tool did u use to turn the light off? What year is your car? I have the same problem fixing the door and the light came on. Peak tools say it might work but they are not sure. I have a 2003 X5 and was wondering if the tool u used works on my car.

Thanks!!

I used Bavarian Technic BMW & Mini Cooper Software Diagnostic Tools , and it worked well. Not to further confuse things, but the ZK5 means right door airbag default. Turns out I had damaged the clip/connector from the wire going into the airbag. I ordered a replacement "airbag repair cable" from BMW of Southern Atlanta, replaced the connection, reset the default code using the bavariantechnic, and now am good to go.

Good luck!

Thanks Hawk!!!

I really appreciate the tip. This thing is a little pricey but it does a lot I guess. Too bad I did not know about this till now since I bought something similar (ODBCOM) but it does not do SRS lights. Glad to hear your problem is resolved. Again, I appreciate the help!!
