2001 bmw x5 headlight wtf is this piece pic included

Hi there guys just took my headlight out to replace side blinker bulbs, had a question what is the part that the headlight connector go into, theres one for the xenon and low beam and corner lights but this one stumps me, pic attached i circled it in yellow..
