I just change my tranny oil on my 2005 4.4 X5. Is this a problem!
Here is my concern. I extracted about 4.5 quarts of tranny oil but have been only able to put pack in about 3.5 quarts. It starts to over flow from the fill plug. This is what I did. 1. First I did not had the car running and filled it until it overflowed. 2 Then I have the cur running and filled it some more until it overflow. 3. Then got out from under the car and had my wife run through the gears (r,n,D and back again). Then got under the car and was able to filled it some more until it over flow. But still I can only get 3.5 quarts in. First is 3.5 quarts normal? What have you folks who had changed the tranny oil been able to put in? Second is this a problem? If it is short about a quart. Perhaps at the factory they filled it more than what you need. Anyone know for sure? Third how can I get more in. Can I tilt the car at an angle? I can easily get the back wheels, front wheels, lefts, or right wheels higher by having the wheels on a street curve. Is there entirely other way to get more oil in? thanks |

I don't know, but I would run the car with low tranny oil till you figure out if it is ok.
