Update on my window regulator
About week ago my passenger side front window became stuck in the down position. It happened while my daughter was driving the X at the funeral for my mother-in-law (I was driving the MDX with my wife and a couple other relatives in that vehicle). I partially removed the door panel just enough to get the window back up by hand, and suspected that the window regulator had gone bad once again. That same one had gone out on me about 2 years ago and the symptoms were about the same.
Today I got completely into the door with the intention of replacing the regulator. Once I got the door panel off, though, I found that the problem wasn't with the regulator at all. Rather, one of the bolts that hold the window glass to the regulator had come loose and this was causing everything to bind. I was able to find some plastic gromets at the local hardware store and get the glass properly secured back to the window regulator and all is well once again. Here's a picture of the bolt that I am referring to: ![]() The lesson learned here was that even though it appeared to be a bad window regulator, there are other things that can cause similar symptoms.
