Replacing the exisiting amp with aftermarket
Hi Folks,
I'm looking to replace my existing amp on my x5 which has the nav, sub, all 10speaks system. I had Prof. car radio installer, remove the nav and install after market touch screen head unit in, I'd like to be able to use all my speakers and the existing sub in the car, I've been told I'll need to purchase aftermarket amp to do this. Anyone know what I can get that is very similar to oem amp so the sound quality is back to way it was before, currently I only have half of my speakers running off the head unit and sound quality is ok, I'd like to be able to use all if possible. Thanks much for any suggestion or comments, Soner |

Unfortunately STASKAYA, I'm in the same boat...
Gotta X5 3.0i (manual), w/ DSP about 3 weeks ago. In that time i replaced the OEM head unit w/ my AVH5900 Pioneer head unit, After reading some of the tips and tricks this forum has to offer I fabricated and installed the stealth 10 inch sub box (right rear compartment), wired my 1000 watt Kicker (2 channel) Amp via the Sub RCA outs from the AVH5900 to the 10 inch stealth sub unit... ...now I only have sound coming out all my front speakers and some sound from the top rear door speakers (more of a mur mur), but none out of the bottom rear door speakers. My AVH5900's wire harness is only connecting the flat pin portion of the OEM DSP harness to the head unit...so I'm thinking its possible the reason for the lack of sound is b/c the OEM Amp is not sufficiently powered w/out the correct module/harness . Are there different specific harnesses for the other OEM DSP w/out NAV terminal connections for aftermarket head units? Or is there a way to “T” splice certain wires to into the aftermarket head unit for the desired functions? ??? I would like to encompass everything my X5 3.0i has to offer including the DSP setup, OEM Alpine amp (+ 1000w 2 ch - Kicker Amp & 10 inch sub) and all 10 speakers, and if i can(?)...the steering wheel controls and hands-free telephone. Minus the Stock business CD head unit. essentially I am looking for some clarification on how to do this correctly or what is needed to do this w/ or w/out having to cut n splice wires or wiring every speaker individually from my aftermarket amp. NOTE: I have read over the X5 tips page and all the aftermarket amp installation DIY in this forum and still I haven’t found the answer to my problem. ??? ...also, is using the high inputs from the stock amp better than RCA from the headunit? Thanks in advance! PROWESS HOCKEY |

I bought two amps, a 4 channel that will run all 8 speakers, and another amp to run the subs. I suppose you could keep the factory subs and run mono 4 ohms, the two 6.5" subs i think are 8 ohms each so wire them parallel to 4 ohm to a mono amp. But I chose to remove it. Install a 10" single sub to run my dedicated sub amp off, or if I am feeling the need put my three 10" subs to get some BOOM BOOM! Its not that much more money, I bought used off ebay or craigslist for the amps. I got both amps for lile 250 total. I have a JVC headunit, nothing special

I am planning a Subwoofer to my factory system. I should start by telling what I have: Non Dsp, No factory Subwoofer, No Nav or Bluetooth...
I know I will need a Amp for the new Woofer, But my question is can I use my Fosgate Punch 200a4 amp to replace the factory and run my door speakers and sub off this 4 channel amp? Or keep the stock amp and run the Sub on the 4 channel amp alone? |

I am thinking about changing out the speakers on my dsp subwoofer.
Has anyone done this? I know that they are 6.5inches diameter and it says 8ohms on the side of the enclosure. is that 8 ohms each speaker or is it 4 ohms each speaker? Also what rated speakers should i get? I know that the stock dsp amp has 4 outputs for the subwoofers and it is 30 watts at each output... so how much will go to each sub if I run them at 4ohm or 8ohm? Thanks in advance for any help on this! |
