Misfire Cyl. #8
Misfire Random Cyl. Misfire Cyl. #8 Engine Cooling Fan Control Originally I was also getting a misfire on cyl. #4 but I replaced all the spark plugs and that took care of that misfire. Thinking it might be the coil so I switched two coils and still got the misfire at cyl. #8. Also switched two of the spark plugs thinking maybe a bad plug but no luck? Suggestions for the misfire at cyl. #8? Since I'm also getting a random misfire code does that mean there is an additional issue? Any suggestions on the engine cooling fan control code? The gauges at the dash are normal...no overheating. Thanks...

I have some of those same issues. Still have not tracked down #8 misfire, clear codes a few months back and have not returned. Engine fan control, check the 50 amp fuse in glove box, also check you fan motor. My fuse was blown and motor was fried. Nobody sells just the motor for fan assembly, so I'm saving up for a new fan assembly.

I'm still getting the misfire cyl#8 and the random misfire. Since the spark plug and the coil is OK...I'm guessing it's not a problem getting a spark...so maybe a fuel problem? And maybe a clogged fuel injector? I order a few bottles of the Chevron Techron Fuel Injector Cleaner and Fuel System Cleaner to see if that helps. Hopefully the injector cleaner works. If not, I guess the next step is to switch injectors to determine if the problem is indeed the injector? For Cooling Fan Control issue...I checked the fuses...all were good. Coolant temperature gage is normal and it doesn't appear that the coolant is overheating...but not sure? Don't know what else I can check?

The fuse is in an awarkward place, I think its behind the glove compartment, not in it. It's a large 50Amp fuse. if fuse is good. Check and see if cooling fan is working by putting 12v on fan.

Aux fan is probably shot. As for the misfire, did you do the valley pan or intake manifold gaskets? If so, pop off the engine cover and push down on the injector harness by injector 8. It's very possible that it isn't connected fully.

According to the Service Manual...the valley pan "seals off a long coolant chamber in the block". I'm not dripping coolant. Can the valley pan and manifold gaskets cause a misfire in one of the cylinders?
Update: I see there are individual manifold gaskets (seals)...so I suppose the Cylinder #8 seal could be bad? Thanks... Last edited by PaubloBoy; 10-11-2011 at 08:34 PM.
