My nav screen is playing up

Got back in the car yesterday afternoon, after a picnic in the country, programmed the next destination into the nav computer, drove off, and then the screen started to roll. Like the vertical hold in an old TV had gone kaput.

I stopped the car, turned it off and back on again. Was ok for a few minutes then started scrolling again and then blank. Repeated the process with the same results. For the rest of the drive home, it was blank with the occasional appearance of a rolling display.

Everything else was working, music, nav voice instructions and the dash display still told me the distance to the destination.

I have also been having, very occasionally, errors reading the map disc. Not sure if that is related.

After searching around here, the only other issues I could see that were similar were completely dead screens.

Any ideas if this is an easy fix, or should I get in touch with my bank manager?

Meant to say, it's a 2005 3.0d with MkIV navigation. The disc is a copy (bought the car with it in) of a 2007 map. Battery seems to be fine, no problems starting.

SOLVED!

Turns out it was, in fact, a dead battery.

I went out to start her up this morning, and nothing. Fitted a new battery and everything is back to normal.
