Expansion / Coolant Tank Leaking

I think my E53 X5 just fell victim to the common expansion / coolant tank leak.

My question is that my car still has CPO warranty and when I called the stealership today they said it doesn't cover the replacement of the expansion / coolant tank? I thought a coolant leak is considered a pretty major thing so shouldn't it be covered by CPO?

Is the stealership lying to me and trying to make me pay for a repair that should be covered?

TIA

That is a covered item. It is not a part of BMW's wear & tear items nor is it under BMW's regular scheduled maintenance. If the X is CPO'd, it should be covered. Tires, brakes, windshield wipers, fluids, etc are not. If your SA tells you the tank failed because of lack of coolant maintenance, then you tell them it is an item covered under the CPO program and that should have been done when an inspection was performed before it was placed on their lot under the BMW CPO program.

Thanks for the input guys... that's exactly what I told the SA that is should be covered... now I gotta prove him wrong with proof in writing.

Does anyone have a link or PDF of exactly what's covered and not by the CPO warranty? The description on BMW's website is very vague and general.

Thanks

ask to speak with a manager? why waste time with writing plus they do have what is and isn't covered by warranty

Agreed, but how many times have we all been in the situation when we go to the dealer to get warrenty work done and they shoot us down for something stupid. Stepping in there with some fire power or knowledge can go a long way and save a wasted trip.

Here is the book about the CPO coverage, flip to page 21.

agree but when they do work they get compensated by bmw corporate even if its a warranty repair. if they refuse and you refuse they dont get paid. so i guess it depends on how fat and lazy some of them get. egoz on some people dont fit in the same shop as them
