Hey ECS tuning,

In the list you put together, I don't see the 4.8is front bumper or spoiler, I'm not sure what it is called, the part that is attached below the standard front and rear bumper that makes it look like a 4.8is.

And also do I need all of the things you put together to get the look?

Thanks

We currently don't have images of all of the products on the site, we are working on it.

From my research the part in the image below is ES 74505 which is one of the parts named "cover" in the linked cart.

Image from thebartman.com The Project X5

The main rear cover is ES76286

The "side caps" which complete the look of the upgraded rear end are ES76284 and ES76285.

If you are interested in picking up the bumper it self so you do not have to do the custom work mentioned in the referenced thread. The 4.6is front bumper for SAVs with pdk can be found HERE. For SAVs without pdk click HERE.

These are cheap but also cheaply made as they are fibreglass, which have a tendency to break and split after exposure to different ambient temperatures, unlike the much more expensive OE parts which are ABS plastic and even come pre-prepared with plastic primer.
The seller is also known on EBAY and he had some very negative feedback ,from bad quality and fitment to one American saying he not even received the kit!!
If you notice the pics on website, these are X5 (some from Xoutpost)with OE kit not their own!!!!!
Just want to make others aware of this
Huh!.. that doesn't sound too good. But really. I am very familiar with GFK works. I will give it a try in 2012. From my expirience GFK does not break because of low temperature. More when you hit somthing - which I do not plan :-)

All the best to you my friend,

Helmuth

I have bought about 4 kits from the guy in Latvia. Never had a problem with delivery or the quality of his kits. The flares are a little tricky, but not that hard if you have someone to help you fit them. The front and rear spoilers go on without a problem. Once they were sanded, primed and painted they looked like the real deal.

They look like the real deal, but I prefer the real thing!I worked with glass fibre products for years ,would never put them on a car of mine!At the slightest impact ,the piece will show hairline cracks which later will open up and render the piece that "looks like the real deal",completely useless!!!
If you have a thin and hollow glass fibre piece, like the flares, maybe,If the sun hits them at 40+ degrees temperature in the heat of the day,it will expand the piece, however,at night when temperatures drop to 15 degrees ,it will retract again .After some time it will expand and wont extract back.
The OE pieces are ABS which are flexible and will withstand small impacts with just a scratch and can withstand all temperatures.
This is first hand experience ,but if you are happy with your kit ,then thats whats its important!
Perhaps ,you could put some pics here for us to see and compare to the "real " deal
With regards to the Latvia guys, its nice to know that they are turning out better quality products but looking at the pics they had on Ebay, definitely didnt look like the real deal! The pics they have on their website,as I said before, very deceiving because they have pics of the "real deal" ,most from members here with 4.6is and 4.8IS x5s!How bad is that?Member here IMOLA at least, should asku them who gave them permission to put up a pic of his car???

Dont do it my friend! You alreadu have the OE flares kit,but If you must do it ,at least fit the OE spoiler on the front and only the glass fibre spoiler on the back,as it will be virtually impossible for stones to hit it and crack it!
All the best.

As in a completely new bumper? If so below is a photo of the 4.8is front bumper with PDC. Currently I do not have a photo of the none PDK bumper.

Click HERE for the 4.8is PDC Bumper

Click HERE for the 4.8is NON-PDC Bumper

4.8is front bumper with PDC

4.8is without PDC can be found HERE I don't have a photo of the non PDC 4.8is bumper currently.

Should read PDC (Parking Distance Control) I had a Porsche on the mind while typing that up for some reason. PDK is a Porsche gear box.
