My X is at the doctors

So I took my X to the BMW dealer for oil change and diagnose a bit rough running and oil consumption has been oddly high. Since my CPO is expiring by end of Dec 2011, I was not worried about spending the 100 bux for the oil change. The service tech drove the X and did agree it was a bit rough running but was curious about the oil consumption. He did state that it is indeed normal for slight consumption. They took it in and the senior tech decided it needs new valve seals in the motor since the consumption has been high, approx 3 quarts every 2 months or so. They will also diagnose and inspect the rough transmission shifting from 1 to 2nd gear in the morning and when cold.

I've been driving a 2011 328i as a loaner and they have been taking care of my X very well esp. under CPO. Only $50 for the whole deal. I have to say thanks to my CPO, otherwise I may have to put off this fixing or find an indy to do this.

Has anyone had the engine valve seals replaced (all of them)? How extensive is the work, just curious.

Got my X back today...
Huge difference, drive is so smooth, idle is perfect and it drives like new.
All new seals, gaskets replaced. Coolant changed, etc. They found oil in the intake and slight smoke after idling. No more lifter noise, everything is smooth!

Yes, the best $50 I spent this entire year to be honest...
The check oil level light came on and they got me in and scheduled to replace the oil sensor since the levels are good.

Def.. good for another 100K.
