Looking for history on a LeMans Blue 4.8is from PA

Hello. First time posting, but long time lurking. We have a 3.0 E53 in the family and now looking to add a 4.8is.

Found a good candidate with a questionable past and hoping someone here might know its story. 2005 LeMans Blue 4.8is from Reading, PA, serviced exclusively at Dick Horrigan BMW. Carfax lists two accidents, couple months apart - "Damage to right front" and "Rear Impact by another vehicle. Minor damage". It was registered as a corporate vehicle and has 81k on the clock. What do you guys think - walk or run?

Run away from that. 2 accidents, will never clear from the carfax, and you will never sell it. Unless they are giving it away, I wouldn't even look at it.

That's that - I'm passing on this one.

So in reading this forum and couple others, I'm hearing of the N62 engine horror stories along with the non-rebuildable trannys. I'm not new to high maintenance cars as I owned and worked on a B5 S4 for 6 years. On that platform, all talk was about turbos failing, yet 170k miles later mine were still fine. Replacing suspension air bags doesn't phase me; neither do window regulators. However, dropping $6k on new motor or tranny does. Is this reality on the 4.8is or are we just looking at a small sample pool?

tmv - 81k miles; every option except nav; appears very clean, almost too clean - engine bay is spotless; alcantera inserts; asking $22k.

+ 1 billion. There are too many nice 4.8's out there. Be patient and you will be happy.

that lemans 4.8is that your talking about from Reading I actually almost purchased. That truck was a trade in at BMW of Reading and was actually for sale by them for 17500.00 but they ended up putting it at auction and selling it at auction to that selling dealer in the MD VA area thats now asking 21995.00. According to the salesman at Bmw of Reading it was a local guy who owned a construction company who owned it. The truck just had the whole top end of the engine rebuilt for like 8k the year prior, so the motor was like new. The salesman said the reason they were selling it for $17,500.00 was because the tech who did the engine noticed that the trans was making some weird noises and assumed the trans was going to have to be replaced sooner then later. They also told me it needed brakes,rotors and the tires were noisey. The said they trans seemed to be ok now but was not replaced and coudlnt guarantee how long it would last. So for $21,995.00 at that dealer I would not buy it because BMW had it for sale for about $5000.00 cheaper.
