Cool Acceleration Hesitation

I have a 2001 X5 3.0 and I have noticed lately that during low acceleration I have what feels like a very small vibration or maybe even a hesitation but when I put my foot in it it performes just like a BMW should. I have changed sprk plugs thinking this would fix it but no. Any suggestions.

Try an accelerator memory reset?
I do that every time I change anything now, had a crack in the intake hose, and it was jerky (again) after replacement, until I reset.
ez & free and no downside that I know of..

also referred to as transmission reset, mentioned Many times on forum, but diff to search for some reason..

stolen from Simon's post:

I believe your referring to

- turn key to position II
- press gas pedal all the way to the floor, past the 'click'
- hold like this for ~ 30 seconds
- lift foot off gas pedal
- turn key all the way to the right (i.e. start car)
- drive forward

:end steal

I have also read to turn off the key for several seconds after pressing the accelerator, THEN start and drive - that is what I do.

good luck!

Can you elaborate on the hesistation.....what i mean is mine lest say im at a stop sign i started to notice that lets say i wanna hit the gas not hard just to move forward i would act almost like its stalling or just no power shutters and so far my torque converter went out...so if you have 120K or more might consider checking the torque converter out!!! i did have no lights or nothing then after 3 weeks of that i noticed slippage during hills etc then i heart grinding noise thats when i parked pulled tranny out and voila clutch in the converter is toast....got a new one rebuild from a company called precision something in Iowa for 249 (includes shipping back to me) + 29 bucks i paid to ship to them.

I may even say that you could potentially have a lost or cracked or broken (some how damaged) cylinder coil. This has happened in my 540 several times. Since you havent really lost power this is unlikely but worth maybe taking a look.

now that I read the reply's I would say SHUTTER would be a more accurate word..I did find a very small tear in the CCV tube....I covered the hole with electrical tape for now till the part comes in.....seems to help a little....when the hole happened the car felt like it was going to fall apart and started to throw out all sorts of codes( misfires on almost all cylinders)...after a bit the X5 went back to normal.... that's when this shutter started now that I really think about it.....could it be that hose that connects to the oil separator. Think you guys again....also I have 192000 on the 5 should I start replacing the O2's the cam sensor and all other external engine sensors.

Yeah it could be that hose but also consider the coil (it could be both). Now that you describe it as a shutter it could be the cylinder coil. When one of the cylinder coil goes it shutters in idle and the car seems to rumble a bit more. Also when you are in drive and the car is going (no pressure on gas) the car kind of shutters and rumbles forward. Hope that helps.
