fluid questions

hey guys not a BMW noob, but maybe a x5..

couple of questions...

i get the debate on the tranny fluid to change or not...not sure there...

but the rear diff fluid...mobile 75-90?? can i put in 75-140 due to some mild towing?? what do we need for my front transfer case? i have 2001 x5 4.4

also thre seems to b a small leak on my transfer case as well?? any ideas?

brakes will be flushed with BMW dot 4

PS looks good..

Green coolant...not good..will get flushed. Any thing i am missing?? thanks for the help.

I use Dextron III for my xfer case. Maybe the trace of fluid is just from last flush.

Yes I always use BMW brake/coolant.
As far as diff, I stick with 75-90 Redline/M1/RP and leave the heavier weight for LSD (limited slip diff) kind, but I doubt it'll do any harm with you go with heavier oil on your X5.

Welcome to the board.

I'd stay with 75w-90 for both differentials.

Since your vehicle is pre x-drive, use Dexron for the transfer case.

Neither differential is a limited slip design. Limited slip differentials that have clutch plates use special LSD fluids. The X5 uses wheel brakes for traction control.

Stay with the BMW recommended weights. The vehicles are designed to tow up to 6,000 pounds with the proper hitch.
