2003 4.6 Vs. 2004 4.4 ?

Hey guys, long time no talk. Just have a quick question to ask my fellow X5ers. Would you prefer a 4.6 2003 fully loaded with Silver on black interior or a 2004 4.4 with panoramic sunroof also fully loaded with dark wood and black interior ?

Simon,

See this thread http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ed-advice.html

Btw, never ended up selling the 4.6, so I'm still in my 4.4 and I love it.

Although I would love a 4.6is more than any other E53 X5, I would go with the one with lower mileage. These SAVs are relatively problematic and most of that correlates with age and mileage. Also keep in mind the repairs will be more costly with a 4.6is, which is probably acceptable if you're going to be doing the work yourself.

It depends on you. 4.6 Consumes more fuel, and how you love the Pano roof. I think 4.6is is better then non IS facelifted model(non 4.8is E53). Also, If 04 has the 4 corner Air Suspention keep in mind that first year production has problems with that.
Overall, for me, If I couldn't get 4.8is, I would get 4.6...

EDIT: Despite Facelifted look, IS looks alot better. Better wheels, Bumpers ect...

4.8is for me. It costs more, but it is newer, so you expect all the little issues to be sort of sorted out better.

For example, there are things that I don't have on my car that the other e53s have. Like secondary air pumps, egr systems and a bunch of other crap. The IS also look much meaner and better in my opinion.

The IS also have a lot more options standard. Like cooler gauges, cooler rims, body kit, pano roof, rear heated seats.

Plus you go pedal puts a bigger smile on your face. I personally would go with the 4.6is.
