problem filling up X5 diesel!
guys, i've got a strange issue, where i can't fill up the tank!!
the nozzle keeps cutting off. i've tried pulling it out half way, turning the nozzle in all possible ways but no improvement. i've tried different fuel stations too so i know its the the nozzle or the diesel, its my car! what i think it is, is that diesel rises up through the fuel tanks neck and when the nozzle senses diesel on it it shuts out (nozzles are designed to stop when the tank is full, they do this by sucking in from a very small hole at the tip of the nozzle. usually it will suck air, but the moment the tank is full it will suck in fuel, and that stops the nozzle. in this instance because diesel comes up the neck bubbling up, it gets through that small hole and stops the pump although the tank is not full) if i fill up slowly so that diesel doesn't rise up the neck i can pump!! but that's annoyingly slow and time consuming with an 85+ ltr tank! pls help if you know something about this.. thx j |
