Hi, Just reading through the list of options on my x.
Number 840 reads high speed synchronisation.

Anyone any ideas what this is?

What year 4.4? Sport pkg? I know that the '03 4.4 spt pkg got V rated OE tires and a speed limiter increase from 128mph ('02 4.4 spt pkg) to 145mph. Could that be it?

Checking the vin, it was built in germany 04/2002 and brought to the uk in 01/03. Yes it does have the 'sports pack' option.
