04 X5 Temp Gauge in Red even after temp sensor replace
I noticed my temp gauge needle went all the way to red zone even when the X5 is idle and the engine is completely cold. I had the coolant level low warning and noticed that my coolant level was really low. Bought the coolant and filled it up and did the regular bleeding. Same issue though... I went ahead and I did a lot of reading and searching and found out about the coolant temperature sensor which I have replaced today, yet the same issue with the temp gauge all the way up is still there. Any idea? ![]() Again, I don't think is the thermostat as the engine can be completely cold and needle goes to the red zone almost instantly. Please help! Thanks, Dany |

ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED!
It appears when I inserted the new temperature sensor, it did not go in properly. I removed it and reinserted the sensor and voila! Issue is gone. |

where is this sensor located? i am looking to replace mine because I am getting the 8d error code from my peake reader. Does anyone have a link to a schematic or a walkthrough as to how I can replace this sensor on my own? much appreciated.
