Wheel offset question.

Im in a 4.8is and am looking at a new set of wheels. If I have stock 168's and they have a 30 offset in the rear and the new set I am looking at has a offset of 40 in the rear. Does that mean that it sits 10mm further out in the wheel well OR closer to the hub?

Thanks a bunch.

Positive offset means the wheel is set in more. Negative offset means the wheel sits out more.

So instead of the 20mm spacer I have on there currently I would need to throw on a 30mm to have it siting in the same spot?

Thank you a ton btw

If the widths are the same then yes you'll need a spacer 10mm thicker to put the wheel in the same location as the other wheels. HERE is a link to H&Rs 30mm spacers.
