rear quarter shade removal HELP!

I'm having trouble removing the vertical post that houses the quarter window shade so I can remove the door panel. I can see the spring type clip at the top, but it dosen't seem to want to move in any one direction to release the bar. Any hints?

Thanks

Use a scribe or pocket screwdriver and pry upwards on the clip through the access point on the side.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to slide the clip up 1/4" at most and it looks as if the torx screw in the middle of the clip is now bottoming on the clip flange. The post is still very secure. Am I missing something silly? Any details would help.

Thanks in advance.

As I recall, you don't want to lift the clip up. Rather, you want to depress it down so that it will slide off of the ball. See the bottom of this article - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...ticle&artid=75

Pain in the pa tuber, but possible

I just had to get that quarter window off myself due to bad regulator.

You need to push up on the clip so that the top of the window shade
comes loose. You can then pull it away.

There is a bottom clip that is attached to the door by a torx screw.
You have to take that out so you can get the door panel off.

I paid $196 for regulator and labor from local indy shop. I understand
BMW is $380

Thanks all

I got it off and am going to install the new regulator tomorrow. Hopefully all goes smooth. Apparently this whole regulator thing is pretty common Thanks again

Does anyone know where to buy a replacement metal clip? When I got my used car the top mounting clip was broken and now the shade is not so secure on the door.

Any help would be great.

Thanks as always.
