Value of our 4.6is?

We are going to sell our 2003 4.6is, black on black and was wondering if anyone here could give us a real world value of it. KBB has it around 19k which seems a little hi for private party. It has 82k miles and in excellent condition in all ways. Thx

if it gives you an idea of value, I recently purchased my '03 4.6is with a tick under 100k for $13,000 silver w/black int excellent condition, new tires. With that in mind, I would say 14k for yours maybe more depending on your market. Best of luck with your sale ! Hopefully you are getting something even better !

Pretty disgusting for a $70,000 truck that is barely broken in!!

I cannot beleive the horrible resale of these, the same year m3 still goes for $20k even though they were $10k cheaper when new!! Guess nobody likes the X5's obviously...

M3 has an element of collectivity.

X5 is disposable. As fans of the X5 we can bemoan that, but that doesn't change it.

I would think the 4.6 and 4.8 would get a good premium, but they really arent worth any more then the base model 4.4. I dont think most people realize how much nicer the 4.6 and 4.8 are. I have owned both and they are worlds apart...

I respect that opinion, but for every person who thinks the V8s of various displacements are better, there is someone like me who thinks the sixes are better. And in the used vehicle market, people will opt for the relative simplicity and ease of working on the sixes. So the values all tend to even out.

I'm more talking purely from a performance standpoint. The 4.8is is a rocket ship of a suv that handles as good as most sports cars. I would think that would make it desirable. If it weren't for the performance, I would have just bought a Tahoe... Oh well...

I think the market for an exclusive (actual M car) coupe is wider and represents a group with much more disposable income than that of a 9 year old SUV (sorry- SAV). No discernible portion of the market buys an old SUV to sit in the garage on rainy days or hit the track on the weekends. The M3 was a car designed for a more exclusive type of service than the daily driver X5- no mater the motor. I think we're seeing that exclusivity persist in the used market.
