2006 X5 - headlight trouble
My wife's car passenger side headlight is constantly flashing. Very annoying! The only other issue is the radio display is dimmer than usual.
Any ideas about the headlight? |

swap the bulbs from the other light and see if it stops. If it does, its the bulb. If it doesn't stop, could be ballast.

I already bought a spare ballast just in case, sometimes 2 is better than 1

Well, not the ballast or the bulb. Is the module different than the ballast/igniter?
The passenger headlight flashes all the time in neutral, it stops flashing after putting in drive and driving 100 yards or so. It does this every time. Any other suggestions? |

Check for corrosion in the plugs. A friend just had similar problems with his Maxima. Switched bulbs, ballasts, just like you. Same headlight would flicker. Turned out that the plugs had rust on them. Scraped them up, adjusted the connector pins for a tighter connection, and lights turned on no problem.

If you have the adaptive headlights, there are two items connected under the headlight. One is the ballast the other is some kind of control module (smaller than the ballast).
Check both for corrosion and moisture. |
