Does anyone know the part number for the heating element inside the front seats? Im trying to fix the driver seat. I searched google and came up with nothing. I found out that the e46 has a seperate part number just for the element. but when i look at the e53, all i saw was the base with the element. Any ideas? I was thinking about buying one from the e46 and putting it in the x5.. what do you think?

It's part of the leather (and usually cheaper to buy with the foam). Horribly expensive, BMW replaced one of mine recently when the seat heater burned through the leather, it's actually cheaper to buy the leather with the foam and heater as one assembly

Might try a generic heater element, a few years ago guys were putting $90 kits from IPD in E32/E34/E38/E39 cars with good results.
