Check Parking Lights - Time to change Angel eyes?
I did some reading and thought these looked good: ANGEL EYES 1st question Do I need to buy (two) sets of these or just one? Reason I ask is there as there are two Angel eyes on each side of the X and one pair are given in the box. I want them to match on both sides so will I need 4 bulbs (2 sets)? 2nd question I don't see the angel eye ring on these lights, how exactly do they work? To further confuse things I see items like these for sale: HALO LAMPS Maybe the the above what I need? I see I get four. I am well and truly confused, any help form someone who has changed these bulbs in the past is greatly appreciated, I am fed up with my Indy overcharging me and it seems like a simple fix. The bulbs come in pair. You only need 1 pair. |

Go with Option 1. You only need one pair, the angel lights are optic fibre rings. They are reasonably easy to install however many people (including myself) had issues with the plug and play. For some reason they conflict with the computer and can fail just as easy as the original globes not because of an actual filament failure but because of a chip hardware issue.
How good are you at DIY? The fool proof method which I used was to wire your option 1's directly into the ECU Red/Yellow wire and have them basically as driving lights through a Relay. Then you wire in a ceramic resistor into each of the original parking light harnesses to prevent the "Check Park Lights" message. Here are some photos ![]() ![]() ![]()

Many thanks fr the replies, I am getting on the right track now at least.
All the LED bulbs I have seen say they are fully compatible with the OBC, I'm a good DIY tech but I would rather send them back as faulty and look for a set that is compatible if I'm getting error messages. When looking for the Angel eyes on offers I see white/blue/red all offered in 3w, 5w and even 6w version, I will probably go with white unless anyone has any input on the blue ones. Higher voltage will most probably mean brighter lights and the 6w version putting out 8000K, this sound great but I guess the down side is they overheat easier and have a higher chance of blowing. Whats the best voltage? 5w seems the cheapest followed by 6w with 3w the most expensive, seems strange to me. Last edited by DrunkenNinja; 02-14-2012 at 08:57 AM. |
