Arrow ABS kicks in ...

Just started happening this wknd on my 4.6is. Taking the off ramp of expressway at about 40mph or so, dry, sunny condition, temp about 40F, tires are Pirelli scorpion (winter) 1 year old with enough tread left, tire pressure ok.
So basically taking the off ramp and the front tires will brake as if it is trying to grab and not slip, kind of like on a wet/snowy road and you brake. the anti skid light (orange triangle) (middle of the dashboard lights up).

any ideas??? appreciate all the help!

UCrewX5 has disabled reputation
likely being caused by a bad wheel speed sensor.

It is actually the Dynamic Stability Control, not the ABS (unless you are braking at the time that it happens).

Agree with UCrew that it could be a wheel speed sensor. It could be any one of the four sensors, the only way to tell is to read the codes.

It could also be in the ABS Controller, which actuates the brakes for DSC and ABS. Sensors are much cheaper, so hope that is all it is.

JCL & Ucrew, cheers for your input/suggestions. When this happens it does not throw the Service Engine light, I still have to go to get the code scanned, so until then I would not know for sure.
Once again thank you and will let you and fellow members know of the outcome.

Cheers!

feels like brakes grabbing

It's actually the Automatic 4 Wheel Drive system....it happened to me when one of my tires was low on air...the car thought there was too much lean or sway, so it attempts to correct and feels like brakes are grabbing on select wheels. cc

Chafesters: Cheers mate!, I did notice the air in the rear driver was low, so I topped it up, but still the same is happening, also I noticed that at about 70-75 the car feels like it does not have any road holding, feels "wobbly"..is that what you felt as well? What did you do to fix it?

wobbly at 70-75 mph

I never had any problems with that...pure conjecture here, but I'd look at a few things that could cause that 1) tire tread good and EVEN wear? 2) 4 wheel alignment (I had to get one as tires were wearing unevenly when I purchased vehicle) 3) although a long-shot, are the wheels balanced??

best of luck, cc
