Thumbs up lock/unlock is now OK, but no horn? No light?

Hello,

First of all, let me thank Xoutpost.com & Xoutpost the admin for this great thread on how to re-program key fob.

Second, after having my key now reprogrammed and working, is there a way to activate a horn/ peep/ signal/ dim light ... etc when locking/ unlocking remotely with key?

Thanks.

This function must be programmed via BMW SSS Progman in Car and Key Memory. If you have the system, you can diy in 5 minutes. If not, you have to ask BMW service center to do it for you.

SSS refers 'software service station', which is an official system for BMW to program/code all models of BMW cars. You can search on eBay by typing 'bmw sss' and you will find lots of them.

Is this one Ok?

I've read it says "Code ECU (daytime running light, seat memory to key, beep after locking)".

I'm very new to this and your advise is highly appreciated.

I do not recommend the USB one. I also have one of this, but it appears very difficult to use and not user friendly at all. I recommed the latest SSS v41 with GT1 and DIS v57, it is very easy to use, just follow the instruction prompted up and finish the programming/coding. However, the GT1 tool is a bit expensive, around US$500 on eBay.

I feel like I can do this by getting into some hidden menu. Has anyone tried this?

Ha ha... On E53 X5, you can only do it via SSS, no other way.

Ok then, guys you've been great. I think I'll go to a nearby garage who have SSS. Will let you know. Thanks.
