19" Summer Tire Choices....Suggestions?

I have a 05' 4.4i X5 with the 255/50-19 and 285/45-19 sport wheel setup. My second set of OE Michelin Diamaris 4x4's are gone after about 28k miles, right at about 58k miles. Not bad really, but probably due to the fact I am fanatical about tire pressure and rotation. I also do NOT tow with this vehicle. Here is my question. I am going to buy a new set very soon, like this next week, and want to know what owners WITH THE SAME SET UP are using and are happy, or unhappy with. Not to be rude, but if you have the 17" or 18" setup, its not not an apples to apples comparison, so your feedback is not as useful.

I have a dedicated set of wheels and tires for the winter, so these will be summer use only. Since I have a track car, a super soft tire like the UTQG rated 220 Diamaris 4x4's are off my list. Too short of tread life and horrible inside shoulder irregular wear and tire noise are common with this tire. In fact, Michelin has a new SKU for the rear tire with a different inner tread design coming out.

My choices are narrowed down to the following, and in order of choice up to now. NONE are runflats.
1. Michelin Latitude Tour HP's Can still find these at some fringe sellers in the sizes I need.(New design out soon so may wait, out of inventory at most big sellers like Tire Rack and Discount Tire)
2. Continental Cross Contact UHP.
3. Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport.

I appreciate any responses and realize that each choice is always a personal decision based on experience.If there are other choices I should be considering, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I'm running the Bridgestones after 7 years and 40k on my original Diamaris. I find the tires to be grippy enough, and the ride has improved--IMO, it is a bit softer, and not as noisy. That being said, it is hard to compare to the original Diamaris as the tires were 7 years old when replaced.

I can still drive my 04 4.4 sport with enthusiasm. I'm happy with my choice.

My 19" OE Michelins lasted 32K. Best tires I've tried- quietest and got the best mileage w/ them.

Tried Pirelli Scorpions next, didn't like them- noisy.

Currently using Bridgestone Duelers, not bad at all. Some road noise, very good wear, but still not as quiet as the Michelins.

My next set will be Michelin OE if still available.

hi huskerx5, how do you rotate your tyres??? side to side??? are they not directional

you cant do them front to back can you as they are different sizes

You might want to look at the General Grabber UHP's - I was amazingly surprised.

I was wondering the same thing. Can they even be swapped front <> back?

I do it on my other cars that are also a staggered fit, but they fit. Not sure about the X, never tried it but I would just to get more life out of my tires.
