AV option at the rear of my centre console!

Hi

I've got IN - AV - OUT option in the back of the arm rest/center console on my X5 and its not mention anywhere in my manual.

What does this do?

Also when i press un-lock on my key remote, the indicator lights don't light up so sometime i've got no idea of whether i've unlock it yet or not, is there anything that i can do to activate this?

Thank you

Nothing special mate!

I use a standard 3.5mm jack, connect my Iphone to the AV IN, tune the TV station to AV channel, from there you'll be able to play songs from your itune.

Sounds alright if you have DSP, i tried turn the DSP off and it sounds terrible.
The screen do flicks abit (not as bad as stated by some others but maybe becasue i've just replaced it with a new one? )but when you're moving, it stop because it'll be too busy waring you about watching TV while driving regardless whether i've got TV in motion or not ..... which i don't.

I think basically that AV in is mainly for kids or passenger in the back playing their own DVD sort of thing, idealy for the rear entertainment TV either in the headrest or over-hang.

In summary

Its best to buy a proper AUX kit.

Like said, AV option will play songs from your Ipod or MP3 player but you'll need to have the TV turn on (AV channel) as it was design to play movie files.
Proper AUX kit will probably sounds better in non DSP cars too.

I did a test (p2 AV IN / p2 earphone cel) last night and this works with Iphone4 better than Galaxy SII. Both cases the screen blinks a lot, but you can heard the song clearly (weak signal). The only problems are the battery life and if you need to change the song, you need to do that in the phone. I'll test with a USB/P3 (Iphone and Galaxy) to see what happens. Someone did this test before?
