Active Seat Ventilation

Hey all

Has everyone seen the 05 X5 accessories catalogue? Well, active seat ventilation is now available, however not as a factory installed option. HAs anyone ordered this option/already have this? Any comments? Is this compatible with sport/comfort seats?

Cheers, M

Is this fact or fiction? What gives?

I did NOT see this in the US 2005 X5 accessories catalog.

It's going to be getting hot very soon in Texas, and I would love to have ventilated seats.

I didn't see it in the 2005 USA Catalog either - http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/pdf/BM...%20Catalog.pdf

Nor did I see it in the 2004 European catalog, but I haven't seen the 2005 Euro catalog yet.

I have never heard of active seat ventilation for the X5.

Yeah, I think KewlX5 had them in his X5 until it got stolen. They recovered the X5 but the ventilated seats were gone. (Please, someone make a joke about Kewl's "ventilated seats".)

If true, this would probably cost an arm and a leg to retrofit; probably cost prohibitive.

Kewl's x5 has ventilated seats, but I don't think the source of the ventilation is the air conditioner. the controls are hard to work, too.
seriously, a retrofit would be quite extensive and would require new leather panels in the seat. plus tubing for the air, controls, etc. etc.
if the heating elements are built into the seats and make retrofitting oem parts nearly impossible, then I'm guessing this can't happen either.

The ventilated seats are for those of you that have a problem a couple of hours after eating Mexican food.

Actually there's an option called 'Aktive Sitzbelueftung' (Active Seat Ventilation) on page 16 in the German X5 Accesory cataloge (http://www.janixworld.com/x5/misc/GY_X5_Acc_2004.pdf ), however it doesn't list a price (only on request).
I will be in Germany next week visiting BMW AG (one of our customers) and see if I can get any more details ....
