Coolant..
Hi Guys,
When stone cold after overnight sitting in the garage my X start leaking coolant for few first minutes of idling. After it warms up,no leaks. Puddle is right under the engine and all the protective shield is in drops coming from all the orifices it has. What would it be? What's interesting,it leaks when there's no pressure in the cooling system, awkward. Thanks.

Just put some fine-ground black pepper (full teaspoon) with the coolant fluid

i have no idea why you would put pepper in your cooling system versus trying to figure out where the leak is coming from and fix it?

I guess that the pepper remedy is kind of middle eastern sorcery
![]() BTW it happens only if I turn off the heat in the cabin or it's set low. Few times I got Low Coolant warning, refilled and can't say that there's a time pattern it gets low. Did anybody have anything like this?

there are a bunch of hoses going to the heater block int he back, that is probably a good place to start looking.
I for one would not be adding pepper to a sensitive cooling system. |

The hose at the back of the heater block SlickGT1 mentioned is a common leaking point. Go ahead and check all the easy to access cooling hoses in the bay while your at it. I've had several leaks in the past that dripped on one side of the car but the source was on the other.

Take the cabin filter housing off at the rear of the engine bay, it makes access a lot easier. I know because one of my hoses at the bulkhead was leaking due to a slack hoseclip

Ok guys,so you had troubles with your hoses, was it the same way, that they would leak intensively only when stone cold?
MVI is due by the end of the month,so I am gonna bring it to the shop for a whole day and ask to have a look at the hoses.Or should I poke around there myself?

Just go in there yourself. Why do you need a shop to do it. Might be something simple. If you can't find it, then take it to a shop and open your wallet.
