Question about replacing starter

So here's the thing...I bought my 03 in June. When we bought it the starter was going out and the seller agreed to fix it on them. However, he keeps telling me that he doesn't want to mess with it right now as long as it's still starting and driving fine which it does. I know it's only a matter of time so is he waiting for me to get stranded somewhere and have to get towed?? But my question is should I go ahead and insist that he fix it now? I thought I read somewhere that the longer it's scratching, it will ruin something else in the long run. Advice please?

You had more leverage before you brought the X. Since you have own it for the past three months what is his incentive to fix the starter? Did you get it in writing that he would fix the starter? As Judge Judy would say he doesn't owe you a thing unless you have a signed contract.

Inform him that if it's not fix by a certain time you will take him to small claim court.
