LED day time running lights E53

hello everyone.recently looked into doing led day time running lights.found the bulb no problem but heres the thing, they wont stay on unless you hold the high beams. when you start the car the just flash a little and go off.i was thinking theres not enough power flowing to them, bad alternator maybe.any idea what could be wrong?heres a pic of what they look like just incase you were wondering

IMO, DRL is just the high beam on low power = not enough power fed for the LED bulb to stay on.

If you are powering them with the high beam, then the reason could be that DRL are driven at 1/2 power, which is probably not enough juice to power up the ballasts of those LED (assuming that your aftermarket LED angel eyes have ballasts). The clue was that holding the high beam stalk (full power) worked.

so incadescent bulbs are the only bulbs that can managed to be powered at such a low power?

I think you might have to go with angel eyes as your DRL if you want that cool look.

that would mean either baking my headlights or spending $300.neither of which are in my interest.what about setting up a relay so they run on the full 12v?

My suggestion then is to PM mrbmwx5 (Tom). He's kind of an electronics and mod master. He actually sells modded OEM Hella headlights. He should be able to advise on your situation.

you have to get them activated on the system.
its a feature that the stealer turns on/off.
same thing happened when i retro fitted factory xenons, they just strobed until i had them activated on my mates computer.
