Thanks everyone who responded to my survey a few weeks ago regarding the 'to powder coat or not to powder coat'. I brought the car to Fluid Motor Union in Plainfield Illinois for some suspension work and figured she could use a little makeover.
I had the KW Coilover system removed and went with a less aggressive B&G Spring with Bilstein shock setup (Thanks mrbmwx5 for pioneering this setup!). I also got new control arms and poly bushings. I live in downtown Chicago and my decision to switch was based on the sh1tty roads here, the typically brutal winters and my wife using the car as her main daily driver to cart around the kids. While there I also had a bent wheel and a few curb rashes removed (Yes, the OEM wheels bend regardless of how durable people say they are). Since they were doing wheel work i decided to go with a little cosmetic change since i was already giving up some 'aggressiveness' with the slightly higher suspension.
Overall i am very happy. Fluid Motor Union did a great job with the suspension work, alignment, and wheels. Service was fast and reasonably priced. The car drives and feels great! I am very happy with the suspension switch. My wife says it drives like stock, and compared to my old setup that's night and day. Anyway, i'd highly recommend Fluid and love the new look. Here's some pics. Sorry they're just iPhone quality pics...
