Need help with diagnosis, coolant leak!
I'll do my best to post some pictures of where the drip is coming from Any ideas on where it could be coming from? The upper and lower hoses look good and with it leaking so little and not leaking at all when its running my guess would be some type of seal Thanks for the help |

Check around the water pump - that's my guess

The vehicle currently has 139k so should I just go ahead and put a water pump on it?
And will I be able to look around the water pump without having to take the fan and shroud off? |

I have the N62 V8 so I haven't worked on the 3.0 but I think that unfortunately in order to remove the water pump on yours you'll need to remove the fan and shroud. I'm not sure though so will have to wait till someone else chimes in that knows for sure. But I would do an inspection around that area first just to check that it is in fact from that area

Yeah, look above the drip and follow the wetness up to the leak. But that said the water pump is very likely.
The thermostat and both radiator hoses are above the water pump and also a really good idea to replace even if they aren't your leak right now. And yes the fan and shroud need to come off to replace it. But a small mirror on a stick, we have them at work, should allow you to see around to the bottom of the pump But the fan and shroud aren't too bad to remove |

Here is a picture of the leak, if you look closely at the center crank you can see a drip forming. It didn't even make a puddle last night but it is seeping as you can tell. I apologize for the greasy engine block, that goes to show you how nasty it gets when someone drives one with a oil filter housing gasket leaking
Has anyone used any bars leaks in the coolant to cure a water pump seal? At least temporarily? I figured if it'll seal it for a while until I get the courage to dive in to it again (the second time within a week) it'll be worth my time |
