Did SES reset procedure, but light is still on

I followed the procedure in E53 Tips & Tricks to reset the Service Engine Soon light on our 03 4.4i, and it behaved as the procedure described, culminating with a message the said "END SIA." However, the light is still on. Any ideas? Thanks.

Service engine soo light is your check engine light, not your maintenance reminder...

You have a problem an oil change isn't going to fix.

^2nd. Need the code read and clear with an OBDII reader, or go to Autozone to have it done. You need to find out what code was registered and go from there.

Ah, thanks. I misinterpreted the meaning of the message. I wonder if it's related to the self-leveling suspension inactive message I've been getting off an on. In any event, I'll get it checked today.

Got the code read at Advance Auto - it was P0412, related to the secondary air pump. So, after researching the subject on this site, I found that I had two problems - the small vacuum hose going from the valve to the solenoid had a large crack, and the wires going into the solenoid connector had been chewed through by rats! Soldered up the wires, and replaced the hose with some I already had, and hopefully the problem is fixed - a $0 repair!
