adding a amp and sub question

Ok I have done numerous installs on my own vehicles. Just want to make sure i'm doing this right here as i've never messed with a BMW and a stock amp. My question is this...following the directions here http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...ctory-amp.htmlI can add a peripheral sven2 LOC (which i already have) to the factory non-dsp wiring going to the amp and get the signal to run to my amp and then to my subs. Am I correct in this? I'm not reading anything wrong am I? Just don't want to fry anything. Thank for any help.

If I am reading correctly, you want to vary from the instructions and tap in on the low-level/input wires, is that correct?

I'll never find it, but I recall that doing that could cause problems for the head unit and that was why they tapped the high-level/output side.

Since you're only adding sub to the factory system, the additional THD in using high-level/output when limited to 100Hz and below (and in a car environment) should be negligible.

I didnt plan on varying at all. I had planned on doing exactly what the write up said to do.

that was why I wrote it that way, "wiring going to the amp" made me ask.

Presuming that you will power direct from battery, this is a pretty simple 'tap' of audio out to the speakers - I suppose that the speaker load presented to the factory amp might be changed, and maybe someone has that info, but again, in a car environment, I think the factory amp should handle that variance - just bouncing down the road varies the resistance, heheh.

With no replies or issues since it was written and your previous experience, you're as safe as possible, IMO.. there are several subwoofer topics, but I didn't find anyone specifically pointing to the how-to you posted..

I felt the same way. I was gonna attack this today but its been raining all day. If it clears I may head out. Also I read that there is unused terminals in the green bulkhead by the sparetire that i could tap into for 12v power. Hopefully that's true , I havent looked into it yet.
