Which diagnostic software to look for?
Have experienced another issue with the X recently ('02 4.4).
Symptoms: Warm engine stumbling/dying when coming to a stop, or rolling with foot off the gas. Always seems to fire back up, but then has a "jerky" idle until it stalls again. Problem seems to be intermitant. Eg: drove 12-15m to the store where it stalled about four times while I was trying to find a parking spot. No issues about half an hour later on the ride home. From the research that I've done on this site, it sounds like it might be a Cam shaft position sensor that's the culprit (feel free to chime in if you think otherwise). At any rate, I figure that I should run a diagnostic to (hopefully) find out for sure. Question is: When looking for a shop to run the test, what diagnostic software do they need to have to properly do the job? I've heard people mention GT1, is this still the case, or are there others? Will a generic OBD II reader not do the trick? TIA
