17 pin or 40 pin for 2001 hualingan?

Hi all.
I would like to buy an aftermarket dvd/sat nav system.

This one

For my 2001 but I dont know what connection I have.
I dont have round pins behind my business cd. So therefore I assume I have the 40 pin. (flat). But everyone says 40 pin is from 2002 on. I have a 2001. I also have nothing in the trunk except a battery and a spare wheel.
I have taken photos, but I am no longer smart enough to upload them.
Is it possible to have a 2001 with a 40 pin plug?

The back of the cd has 16 flat pins, 2x small 12 pin plugs and a small 10 amp fuse.
Any help appreciated.

Do you have DSP? If you do, it's a mute point since the headunit that you want to buy isn't plug and play with the BMW DSP system.

Neither one of those is a haulingan...

They are both Eonon, which have pretty poor reviews. Standard Eonon units with the same features but double din can be had for about £100-£150.

Those two charge a premium price because they are made to fit OEM fitments. Sound quality will be poor and the interface will be pretty slow. Atleast from what I have seen. But then there have been some positive reviews out there also...

No DSP. No amp, nothing under the spare wheel at all.

Thanks for the heads up on that one. I will research it a little more.
Doesnt matter which unit I get if I dont get the correct plug.

DSP amp is located in the cubbie on the left side not under the spare wheel.

Thanks mate. I have read that one, and like I said before, I dont have any of that stuff under my spare. Never seen one like it before.
