4x4! DSC yellow light on

DSC 4x4! yellow light on. A few weeks later, the SES light came on. Scanned with OBD2 and found a P1064 error code. I think it is related to the SES light but not 100% sure as the search didn't yield anything on the forum for a P1064. No other codes. Cleared the code, SES light went off so I will monitor status. However, DSC light is still on!

do I need a different reader because DSC type errors are stored somewhere the OBD2 can't read or ?? thoughts?

What are good scanners out there that can read DSC codes?

You need to use a more sophisticated scanner. P1064 can be related to fuel pressure but OBD codes can be too generic. Probably related to the SES light. Scanners are just tools and not a replacement for an experienced technician/mechanic.

I would get it scanned with what the dealer uses to get BMW specific codes.

Your DSC 4x4 light is probably related to the steering angle sensor we talked about in your other thread. However, a scan from the dealer, again, would help identify the root of your problems.

I have no experince with aftermarket scanners and thought any can pull any stored codes! Sounds like the DSC code is tougher to fish out I was hoping to purchase a scanner and was actually searching the forum for recommendations. With what you said, sounds like that wouldn't be a worthwhile option if I can't pull BMW codes

Time to head back to the stealer .....

Thx TP and BJ

I second Twins Papa!

I assume it runs okay but the SES came on and it reset so, that could be the gas cap? It happened to my daughters 02 325i. Reset with the scanner and 100 miles or so into a drive and it came back on. New cap and no more light.

Good Luck!
