Another Xenon/halogen question

Is it true that the only difference between xenon/non-xenon lamp units is the bulb and the fact that xenons need the ballast and the higher power wirring loom. The reason for the question is that I need to buy euro clear lights for my 2005 X, I need right hand drive units and have found a few ocaisionaly come up on ebay UK like the one here,(I will be importing my X to the UK).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

I contacted the seller and was told it was non-xenon, but my US lamps are xenons, so I have all the required bulbs, ballast, controllers etc.So if another non-xenon comes up can I bid for it knowing I will be able to fit it to my car.

Thanks in advance.

The lenses are different and HID's have a self leveling mechanism. I don't think it will work unless you get HID headlights.

why don't you just get the lights re aligned for driving on our roads.

Why do you need euro clears is thast just the for the indicator bit if so I wouldn't bother and save your self some money.

On pre-facelifted X5s,here in Europe if you have Xenon headlights ,there is a lever on your headlights that will adjust your beam to LH or RH drive.Dont know if your in the US has this lever??

Unfortunately they changed the design idea after the facelift and now the lamps are non adjustable worldwide, I have a 2005 so I need to buy UK lamps.I could have one of the specialist garages in the UK do the conversion work, but I have seen uk lamps come up ocaisionally on Ebay, I have a right hand one so far and am waiting for a left hand one to come up.I am not in a hurry so I have the time to wait.I picked up the first one from a large breakers company for £80.I think it is worth getting the UK lamps cos then the conversion work on the car for import will be far less. There is also some new rules I think, that if there is a genuine right hand drive lamp available it has to be fitted. !!!.Plus the euro clears look sooooo much better.
