Xenon Light Bulb Question

I had one of the Xenon lights go our in my car. I swapped out the bulbs between headlights to test them so I am guessing that is my problem.

The good bulb is a OSRAM XENARC 66040; The bad bulb is a Philips 85122.

Does it make a difference what bulb I replace it with?

I see online a lot of people selling a Sylvania 66240 and a Philips 85122+ Is there a difference between the 66240 and 66040 or 85122 + and the 81522

Thank you for your help

I honestly would just replace the pair, I have a pair of Morimoto 5000k (good quality basically on par with Philips) bulbs from The Retrofit Source in my other car, running strong for 3 years now, and I paid 60 bucks for the pair.

From what I know of the OEM bulbs the 85122+ already is color shifted to match existing headlights, but like I said, you may have the other bulb go sometime down the line. I've always replaced bulbs in pairs. good luck!

EDIT: Price has come down in recent years, the Morimoto 35W D2S bulbs are now 45 plus shipping for the pair!

3000k (yellow), 4300k (oem color), 5000k (pure white), and 6000k (white with bluish tinge) available, take your pick, here's a link.

I ended up just getting another 85122 because I didn’t want to remove the whole front bumper again and change both lights out. The color of the one I got is basically identical to the one that is in there.

I put the bad one in the passenger side lamp so I was able to get to all the screws easier. The last bottom screw I was able to get my arm through the fog light hole and remove it through there.

I will keep this post so next time I feel ambitious to take the bumper off I will swap them out for those you suggested. For 45 dollars it is really a bargain.

Thanks

How do you "easily" get to the bottom-fender side torx screw on the back cover to the headlight? Even with a short screwdriver it is really hard to get in there.

Am I missing something? Thanks for your help
