2005 3.0 Aux Fan and Fuse Q's
OK, I may be the dumbest self-wrencher out there.
I just replaced my water pump, thermostat, and upper and lower hoses. Everything was fine, for a few days. Yesterday, in traffic, the car overheated at idle, and a/c got hot. Let it cool down, started moving again, and it was OK as long as I was moving. It happens quickly if I'm idling on an uphill, and slower if I'm pointing downhill. In fact, I'm not sure it happens downhill at all. It was actually doing this prior to the swap outs as well, but I thought it might have been related to the faulty thermostat (dealer had told me thermostat was stuck open). Now, I am feeling like it's the aux fan. I have searched all over and can't find answers to a few basic questions (herein comes the dumbest part): - which fuse controls this? I saw 61 on other posts, but I wasn't clear if that was a 3.0 or a 4.4. Auxiliary fan, or anything like that, is not labeled on the box. - i saw some info about testing the fan itself, but I don't see any electrical connections to the fan. Do I have to take the bumper off to get to it? Where is exactly is it? I saw info about fues 61, but like I said, I wasn't clear what model that was for, or if it matters. Also, I saw info about testing the fan itself, but not info on where the connector to test is located. Of course, I really don't feel like replacing the aux fan unless it's necessary. Also - does the uphill thing indicative of anything other than I live in a hilly place? Thanks, Mike |
