Oh by the way... Dealer suggested fixes.
I just got a call from the dealer stating that my car is ready...
SA: "Oh, by the way, the mechanic noticed there is a little sticky stuff on your belt idler and it may cause the belt to become noisy in the future. We can replace the idler for $150 while we are replacing the alternator. Would you like us to perform that service?" Me: "No" A few years ago, I got a call after another service... SA: "We notice that your power steering hoses are leaking. Would you like us to replace them?" Me: "Which ones are leaking; how much will it cost?" SA: "All of them are leaking. It will cost about $800." Me: "No." Since that time, I have never replaced - or even looked at the hoses and have not heard any subsequent reports of those hoses leaking. This is one of the reasons people don't trust or get their cars serviced at the dealer. But I guess enough people go for it that the keep pushing unneeded services.
