No air from rear passenger vents

I have a 2005 4.4 and I've noticed that no air comes through the rear vents for backseat passengers. What could cause this and is there anyway of fixing it? (Both vents ARE opened)

I know this may sound simple but you'd be surprised. On the left side, there is a dial. Did you scroll it up (or down, can't remember)?

Do you have the front vent selected to have the air going to the face?

Hey nawdeal did it work before and just stop. If so it could be mechanical failure.. You could always check and make sure the little duct under the center console is installed correctly it could have moved or been moved then no air will travel from the rear to the front. Follow the guid for retrofitting bluetooth or install a new bluetooth cradle you will see the little duct.

I finally had some time to check it out today after getting off work and I can definitely hear air near the vents so the blower is getting air there. I will dismantle the rear console this weekend and check the duct work. I'll try to search the "bluetooth" threads for some advice. Thanks.

did you ever solve this?

I have the same problem.

Do you have to have the blower on the face upfront? and not in Auto mode?

All I had to do was take a long, narrow object (screwdriver, pen, pencil, etc.) and insert it into the vent on each side to open the flaps from within.

Interesting....can you still adjust the louvers/vents using the air supply dial (#1) and the air flow louvers (#3)? Or do you always have to adjust using a tool?

I sometimes find the discussion of this rear vent difficult due to the "optional" aspect that some have the rear climate control, and some just have a regular vent (no blower for increase/decrease of air)...plus BMW's icon for air flow confuses many owners in that the "0" indicates "off" or "closed" and the "|" indicates "open" or can "vary" the blower speed if optioned with rear climate control. So sometimes it may be simple operator error, and sometimes there's actually something wrong.

And as stated in the owners manual (see the text highlighted in magenta)...the control settings for the front passengers can have an affect on the rear passenger's vent at the rear of the center console.

Hmm, it kind of sounds like his Air Supply button (#1) is just broken. At least, that's my interpretation. I don't believe there are any other flaps other than those from #1 and #3.

Also, IIRC, #3 doesn't close all the way they just direct air. #1 actually closes all the way.

Hopefully the OP will clarify.

EDIT: I'm going to double-check and see if the Air Supply button (#1) actually has flaps. Maybe it doesn't. In that case, then there must be another flap/mechanism behind #3 and #1.
