Which wheels are more valuable...

Hello. I'm trying to see which wheels are more valuable in your opinion. The original wheels (see attached "Original" pic) that came with the X5 when I purchased it and has only 5% tire thread left... OR the black wheels (see attached "Black" pic) which is an immitation of the latest X5 wheels? I just got the black wheels powdercoated and they still have 75% tire thread available. Both sets of wheels are 20" diameter and staggered sizes as well (wider rear wheels). Let me know also how much they are in the market nowadays... Thanks.

Well, the original Style 87's will be more favorable because they are OE. I personally like the style 87's myself, and I am not a fan of Black rims, but in your case, those actually look good on your X. What were you planning on doing? There was a member, Michele, she just sold her style 87's with 2 new Toyo proxies in the Back and 4/32nd Proxies in the front for $1000 or $1100 I think. Just the rims, I have seen the in the area of $500 to $800. There is a person on Ebay selling a set, they have some curb rash and such and he is looking for $2k i believe.

If you want my honest opinion, anyone trying to sell wheels for over $1k used are just going to sit on them. Unless they are pristine, then they will be easier to sell. I was going though the Archives on Craigslist, a few months ago, someone was selling Style 87's with 8/32nd tread remaining for $600. Gone within the hour. Then there is another guy selling 87's just rims for $1600, he has listed them every week for almost 6 months now.

So depends on what you want to do.

TTGTR, Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. Plan is giving up the X to a friend and they continue payments on it. Hate to do it but they want it and I can't afford the gas guzzler with new travel distance from home to work... 100 miles roundtrip.
Thanks again, man...

I would vote for the oe 87s, also...
and, remaining tread life is really beside the point a buyer really want those those 87s...the black reps might be more attractive with those decent tires, but they will be in a different league price-wise compared to the oe 87s, imo.

If I get your drift, the 87s are salable on the side without tires, (other than tires 'help protect' slightly in shipping); those reps, not as much, imo, and for less dough.
